From October 27 to 29, 2023, the 2nd Energy Chemistry Youth Forum of the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS)—jointly organized by the Energy Chemistry Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society and Tsinghua University—was successfully held in Chengdu. Shaanxi Shangnan Dongzheng Chemical Co., Ltd. was invited to attend the forum and participate in the dedicated session on long-duration flow battery energy storage.

The forum centered on the theme of “Future Energy and Sustainable Development under the Dual-Carbon Goals,” focusing on cutting-edge research and applications in advanced battery technologies, photocatalysis and fuel cells, solar cells and photoelectric conversion, and emerging energy conversion technologies.
The long-duration flow battery session was chaired by Professor Xu Quan of China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and CTO of Sino-Ocean Energy Storage Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. Leaders and distinguished guests in attendance included Han Zhidong, Deputy Director of the Materials Industry Division of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, and Guo Yan, Secretary-General of the Flow Battery Standardization Technical Committee of the Energy Industry, among others, who delivered keynote remarks.
Mr. Ren Zhanzhou, Chairman of Dongzheng Group, attended the forum and delivered a keynote presentation titled “The Evolution of Chromium Salts and Their Emerging Market Applications.” In his report, Chairman Ren introduced the industrial chain of basic chromium salts, outlined the Company’s achievements in efficient chromium resource recycling, and presented Dongzheng’s strategic planning for iron–chromium electrolyte development.

During the special session, Shaanxi Shangnan Dongzheng Chemical Co., Ltd., together with Sino-Ocean Energy Storage Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Beijing Herui Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Machinery & Electrical Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Suzhou Kerun New Materials Co., Ltd., jointly signed a cooperation agreement under the National Energy Storage Technology Industry–Education Integration Innovation Platform for the iron–chromium flow battery ecosystem.
The signing further strengthened collaboration and effective coordination among upstream, midstream, and downstream enterprises within the flow battery industry chain. By reinforcing, supplementing, and strengthening key industrial links, the agreement aims to enhance supply chain resilience and promote the high-quality development of the flow battery sector.
